GCF Small Tech Grants Competition
Small Tech Grants Competition 2002
12 Countries
Funding amount: $56,000 total
In February 2002, the Global Catalyst Foundation distributed a Small Tech Grants Competition request for proposals for a second time. We asked a number of US NGOs to find small-scale grassroots organizations outside the US that needed $5000 or less to apply ICTs to existing or proposed projects. By May we received 61 proposals from groups in 33 countries. As in 2001, these grassroots organizations requested support for computer equipment, staff and community training, network enhancements, and connectivity charges. Applications for this support addressed special education needs, health information, jobs and skills training, gender issues, and community resource development.
The 12 finalists in 2002 were selected by judges using the criteria established in the request for proposals. Our partners in the selection process included the Global Philanthropy Forum, The Foundation Incubator, and Global Catalyst Partners.
Here is a copy of the 2002 Request for Proposals.
