Igniting Girl-led change
Worldwide

Global Catalyst mentors girls around the world to become powerful advocates and confident leaders. Our signature program, GLOW Club, connects girls in some of the world’s most underserved areas with trusted local mentors and a safe space to express themselves as they develop their agency, find their voice, and build their power. Since our founding, we’ve ignited the power of more than 100,000 girls, sparking a growing movement of youth-led change that is transforming communities — and the world — for the better.

FAQs

In 2026, Global Girls Glow became Global Catalyst. Here’s why.

Why did you change the name from Global Girls Glow?

We have always believed in the power of girls. Since our inception, we have proudly stood beside girls in some of the world’s most underserved areas as they have boldly raised their voices for change. We have seen them overcome unimaginable circumstances to transform not just their lives, but the futures of their families and communities — and we realized we needed a name that truly reflected that spirit.

We no longer feel that Global Girls Glow captures the strength, resilience, and remarkable advocacy work girls around the world are leading. We have been told by close supporters that it is too cute, too juvenile, and too heavily associated with the beauty industry to appropriately represent who we are — and who girls are.

Why did you choose Global Catalyst?

We believe that Global Catalyst captures the gravitas of our work, and the acceleration of impact girls are leading worldwide. Girls are catalysts of change. They are speaking up for themselves at home, sharing important lessons with their younger siblings, and starting critical dialogues with community leaders. Each person who believes in and invests in their potential is a catalyst, too.

You took “Girls” out of the name. Do you still work with girls?

We still proudly serve adolescent girls across 30 countries, including the United States. Our work was founded on the simple, but bold belief that girls deserve equal opportunities and the right to pursue lives of their own design. That belief continues to guide everything we do.

At a time when funding and opportunities for women and girls is being scaled back, we remain committed to putting girls first when so much of the world is leaving them behind.

By removing “Girls” are you broadening who you serve, and does that change your commitment to girls specifically?

We have not changed our focus or expanded who we serve.

Have you changed your program model with the name change?

Our signature program is still GLOW Club, and our Theory of Change continues to guide all aspects of our programming: Through our social and emotional learning-based mentorship model, girls begin developing agency, then grow to exercise their voice with confidence, and ultimately build the power to advocate for themselves and their communities.

What will happen to GLOW Clubs?

Our signature program, GLOW Club, is still our primary initiative. This program, and its name, will remain unchanged. We are proud to fuel more than 400 local, mentor-led GLOW Clubs around the world on a weekly basis, equipping girls with the tools, skills, and support to overcome barriers and use their voice to create lasting change.

Have you changed the organization’s mission or how you describe the work?

Our mission has not changed, but we do have an updated description for our work:

Global Catalyst mentors girls around the world to become powerful advocates and confident leaders. Our signature program, GLOW Club, connects girls in some of the world’s most underserved areas with trusted local mentors and a safe space to express themselves as they develop their agency, find their voice, and build their power. Since our founding, we’ve ignited the power of more than 100,000 girls, sparking a growing movement of youth-led change that is transforming communities — and the world — for the better.

Does the name change affect how or where my donation is used?

Not at all. Donations continue to fuel our critical work around the globe. Thanks to a generous donor who covers all operating costs for the organization, 100% of all donations to Global Catalyst are invested in girls, supporting GLOW Clubs and advocacy programs worldwide.

Are there any leadership or board changes connected to the rebrand?

There are no leadership or board changes associated with the rebrand. We are grateful to have the support of an expanded Strategic Advisory Board — champions of our work from a variety of sectors and professional backgrounds who have helped us expand our visibility and reach new audiences over the past year. This new chapter has been made possible with their support.

Why invest in a rebrand rather than programs?

We believe that a rebrand is a necessary first step to strengthening and expanding our programs worldwide. Our new brand is intended to elevate the important change girls are already leading, providing a larger platform for their voices to be heard.

In order to reach even more communities, we need additional funding. Through a refreshed brand identity, we aim to inspire more donor interest and confidence so we can raise the funds needed to equip even more girls with life-changing mentorship and community-centered advocacy skills.

Because of the generous administrative support we receive from Global G.L.O.W., all costs associated with this rebrand were covered. Your donations will always go directly to girls.

Will this change affect donors, partners, or supporters?

Our intention was for our new name to be more inclusive of the donors, partners, and supporters who strengthen us. We hope that they see themselves reflected in our new branding. Because when they invest in girls, they become catalysts for change, too.

How do girls feel about this change? Were they included as key members of the decision-making process?

We included girls in every step of the 9-month long process to evolve the brand. We welcomed over 60 global internal and external stakeholders into our brainstorming process, making thoughtful efforts to include current club members and alumni from our programs. Their voices were considered and incorporated at every stage.

What steps did you take to ensure that this name change was culturally sensitive and inclusive of the various communities you work with?

We deeply value our partnerships with the locally-led, community-based organizations who make our life-changing work possible. As a global organization, we take seriously our commitment to cultural sensitivity, and strive to ensure that girls, mentors, and partners around the world feel seen, heard, valued, and represented. We included global stakeholders in our name change process, and had a rating system that factored in cultural sensitivity and inclusivity.

What is the significance of the new logo?

As part of our name change, we also wanted a refreshed visual identity that felt better representative of our global impact and the remarkable girls we serve. Our new logo puts ignition energy directly into the letterforms. The script “Global” carries warmth and continuity with the GLOW Club identity, while the red “CATALYST” with a slight forward tilt signals forward motion and movement. The contrast between the two is intentional: fluid and human on top, powerful and electric on the bottom.

What remains unchanged as part of this transition?

Our mission to ignite girl-led change remains constant, as do our GLOW Clubs and advocacy initiatives.
